MIF of Location Description Yields ? Marks in Description

From: (2014-01-02 12:13)

Reloaded some locations to change the GL Account. Using same csv file as originally used---but changed GL. Now I am getting question marks in the description field. I have tried a few tweaks of my flat file, etc, but keep getting the same result. Anyone else ever have the same issue?

This will happen when your descriptions contain special characters, such as accented letters, and you unknowingly save the csv file as ANSI character set after editing. It must be UTF-8. The file looks OK in your editor, but the special chars are encoded as single byte Latin-1. You'll need to convert file to UTF-8.

If you don't have a tool for that, google the freeware editor Notepad++ and download. Open file with notepad++ and click on Encoding, then Convert to UTF-8 Without BOM, then save.
