Workflow Question.

From: (2014-02-11 11:46)

Our users would like to initiate a workflow process when they receive particular items in Maximo.

This Work flow process will notify/inform/email specific people so that they can perform a defined set of tasks on the equipment.

So, we are thinking that user would create a work order (manually) that includes a Job Plan that contains a set of tasks.
For now, we can just call them:
Task 1
Task 2
Task 3

User wants to be able to route the work order to the person responsible for Task 1. When Task 1 is complete, the work order would automatically route to the person responsible for Task 2, etc. until all the tasks are done. Each person would mark their task complete via a Status or similar.
When the work order is routed to a particular person, Maximo would trigger an e-mail.

Is this doable via workflow?

Thanks in Advance for your help.

Yes, it's feasible via workflow. each task will appear in respective users start center and it can be use to update the work then reroute it to next user until it's all done.
Thanks,'

In your case, beside wf, you can also use Flow control and build result
sets in the user s start center based on the status to let them know that
work is waiting for them.

Thanks Mohamed and Basant. I ended up using Escalation and Communication template to do what we needed to achieve. Workflow worked well, but changing status on a child workorder, wouldn't affect parent workorder (and its workflow) unless you modify something on parent workorder and save.

Thanks for your help, though. It made me learn about flow control and workflow.
