I have a daily report (.doc) that needs to be updated by several users. If this report is attached to a work order would it be possible for user A to open the linked document, make changes, and click the save button within MS Word, thereby modifying the original linked document on the server?
What I would like to do is assign the work order via the owner field to user A, have that user update the document, and change the work order owner to user B to make updates, and so on, and so on. I am trying to keep the end users from having to save the document locally, and upload each time a change is made.
Any thoughts on this would be appreciated, as we do not have a true document management system in place as of yet.
Many thanks in advance.

What is this daily document that you need to update?
Maximo has tabs called Logs where you can enter Work Log entries. I would think something like this is more suitable than a Word document? There is no way to edit an existing document. Only delete and upload a new one. Deleting it only deletes it from the database, it is not physically deleted from the file server.
