Error installing WebSphere

From: incomm (2014-10-24 21:50)

Hi guys: trying to install WebSphere, and getting an error CTGIN2032E "host is not listing on the port." Anyone got a clue? I haven't got anything else listening on that port ...

Windows Server 2008
Maximo 7.5 Install\

Thanks guys.

Whenever I see port issues my first thought is firewall rules and/or virus protection issues.

What's the output of netstat -a and netstat -an? If something else grabbed
the port before you, then that's your issue.
Virtual Hosts setup? httpd.conf look okay?

No, nothing’s grabbed the port. There’s nothing listening on that port at all.

I opened it on the firewall, and in fact, disabled the firewall completely just to be sure, but no dice.

This is a brand new server and a brand new Maximo install, so no httpd.conf yet.

Further info: can telnet to Port 1433 for SQL Server, and to 3389, but nothing’s listening on the SOAP port (8879).

This may be a Windows setup thing … I had to reinstall the OS for this machine, and my Windows skills are rusty, so it’s possible. Have I not turned on a Windows feature that’s needed?

Make sure your antivirus or anti-malware software are not blocking it.
Anything reported on the log file or eventviewer?

I think I saw this in the past.

There are two parts to the install 1/ the middleware and 2/ Maximo.

I believe that you went straight to the Maximo install without installing the middleware.

Follow the installation instructions carefully and make sure that you launch the correct install application. There are two and this can cause confusion.
