View Work Orders and PM's not working

From: therron (2015-02-05 06:25)

Yeah, still on Maximo 6.2.6. . .

It's only been noticed in the past few days, but in Work Order Tracking if I have a value in the Location field, then click the lookup arrow and choose "View Work Orders and PMs" the dialog box pops up but the table window retrieves no records and says "No rows to display."

If I go to the Locations application and pull up the same location, and select "View Work Orders and PMs" from the Action menu, it works correctly.

If I go back to Work Order Tracking and select a record that has an Asset value supplied, and View Work Orders and PMs on the Asset, that works correctly. (Essentially all of our work orders have a Location, a small percentage have an Asset.)

I have delete Temporary Internet Files. I have gone to Database Configuration and Updated Statistics and Refreshed Index Tables. I have not turned on logging or rebooted Maximo.

This problem is affecting other users on other machines which use a different version of Internet Explorer.

Any ideas on how to fix this (other than trying a reboot)?

I should clarify: The problem is only with the Work Orders tab of the View Work Orders and PMs dialog. The PMs and Routes tabs work correctly.

And we have not made any configuration changes recently.

One more discovery: When in Work Order Tracking, I click the lookup arrow next to the Location field and choose View Work Orders and PMs, the dialog box appears. At the top of the box is a multipart textbox control that should have the Location ID and the Location Description. The Location ID is showing up correctly in the box, but the description is empty.

If I leave the box/go back to the main screen, click the same lookup arrow, choose Open Drilldown, then in that dialog click the button for View Work Orders and PMs, it immediately goes to that dialog, and everything works correctly. Weird huh?

Hi
If this has only just started happening, it suggests that something has changed. possibly an update to IE or Java ?
I would go to Temporary Internet Files and empty completely, including saved passwords, and ensure that retain favourites data is not checked, so that will clear too. (uncheck the first tick box, and tick all of the others)
Also open control panel & start Java Console. Go to Temporary Internet files (in Java), move the slider all the way to the left, uncheck the save files on my computer box, select delete files. Check all the tick boxes, then click on OK.
re-boot the PC & try again.

I had not done all that you suggest, but now I have, and it is still behaving the same way. View Work Orders and PMs is not working directly from the Location lookup, but it is from the Drilldown, from the Asset lookup, and from the Locations application's action menu.

I know the Asset lookup calls upon a different relationship, but as far as I can tell from digging through application XML's and system XML's like Library, Menus, and Lookups, they all call the same dialog box and use the same relationship.

I'm not seeing it natively in WOTRACK.XML -- all I see there is that the Location field (control) is handing off responsibility to the menu and/or lookup, both called LOCATIONS. So it's calling out to a system file to do the work, which makes sense because the same dialog is used in multiple apps.

I'm not seeing it in LOOKUPS.
MENUS says it's calling an event "wopms_byloc"
LIBRARY says it's calling an mxevent "wopms_byloc" LIBRARY also has a dialog box by that name that basically calls a bean and displays information.

So anyways, if they're all calling out to the same place, I can't figure out why one isn't doing it correctly while the others are.

The ONLY thing I can think of -- and this seems crazy -- is within the last week I've been changing a few assets -- some assets got replaced so I've been creating new entries for the assets, switching the old asset for the new asset on existing work orders and PMs, changing parents for some child assets that weren't replaced but the parent was, and decommissioning the old assets. Maybe somewhere in there Maximo goofed and something's corrupted.
