Maximo 7.6 install on Windows 2012 - Launchpad menu not displaying on left

From: ahohnstein (2015-05-19 06:30)

Checking to see if anyone else has experienced this problem. When starting the launchpad.exe, the left-hand menu (with options to install product, etc.) does not display and remains blank. This only happens on Windows 2012 Server. It also happened to us when installing Maximo 7.5 on Windows 2012. Anyone have a quick fix for this?

Also, yes, we've tried 'Run as Administrator' with no luck. And we've removed Enhanced Security Mode for IE, if that has any bearing on the issue with no luck.

Try checking the install.properties which is usually dropped in your
windows user directory (c:\user\administrator\install.properties). When I
installed 7.6 there was a few invalid directory references in the file
which caused the installer to fail.

Thanks. However, no such file exists at this point. This is a clean machine with no previous software installed. I'll also add that I've put DEP in the less restrictive mode so that shouldn't be a factor.

Literally, I've copied and extracted the install files to a folder and double-clicked launchpad64.exe and the launchpad displays but the left pane is blank (white, with no content).... I know I can't be the first person to experience this. And it has to be something with Windows 2012 as we encountered the same thing with our 7.5 installs on Windows 2012. For the life of me I can't remember what we did to get it to install on those machines though, so I'm back in this boat.

as it turns out... the solution was to remove the [space] from within the folder where the installation files were extracted (d:\maximo 7.6\install etc.). Changing the root folder to d:\maximo7_6 solved the issue and the menu items on the left side are now displaying. Must have been some issue with one of the .js files not handling the space correctly. No surprise there but definitely a "duh" moment.

Somewhat related issue I'm experiencing:

I just finished a clean new install of 7.6, and then, following the instructions in the Installation Guide, I tried to run the installValidation.bat script. And I got a NullPointer exception and the script won't run. I opened a PMR with IBM and they were able to reproduce it; awaiting their response.

Travis,
I'd be interested in hearing what the solution is when you find it. I'm experiencing what I believe is the same issue. I could open a PMR but I have several open already for other issues. Please let us know if/when you find a solution.
