I have generated work orders from a PM with a route attached. All the location descriptions are clean---none of them have the question mark characters in them. However, the work order descriptions all have question marks in the spaces of the work order description (which is the Location description) Even on the work orders themselves, the location description in the location description field appears normal. It's just the work order description field.
Example:
WO Description: SS?C01NSW?Beneva?Rd
Location Description: SS C01NSW Beneva Rd
Try exporting your location description from the Locations table. If the initial description was done via a data load, there may be another character other than a space between the words. When it is copied over, since the mbo cannot parse the unknown character, it puts in a ?.
Simple answer if this is the issue - do a search and replace for all the unknown characters and replace with a space. Pat Morrow

One other thing to note on unprintable characters: smart quotes in Word and Excel are gobbled up the same way. You think you've got " but you really have ž or some other weirdness embedded in it.
