I'm trying to open an existing ROD file, and look at the query. Thing is, it wants to connect to a data source that no longer exists. How can I crack this report open?
Actuate 8, Maximo 6.2, Oracle 9ish

Its been a long time since I've played in that world, but I believe someplace in the Actuate install is a properties file that contains the connection string to the old database. Suggest you search the actuate installed directory and see if something like that exists. Look for something with 'external' in the file name. I remember having to copy this properties file between the Maximo install and the actuate install.

The datasource configuration is set in the properties of the eRDPro installation during install /configuration.
If you look in the object view side there should be a datasource object as well that can have the connection properties. IF in SQL Server each of them will most likely have their own connection information as you couldn’t reuse a connection like you can with Oracle.

Turns out it has data connections littered all over the place. I managed to locate an extract that seems to be it. I got a 4:50 second query down to 0:03 seconds, so I had a good morning. Lets see if I can unravel the ROD later tomorrow.
I appreciate you two helping me look. It's not a popular report solution right now.

Thanks Wes.
I got bigger problems. I have 1300 source files, none of them really telling me which one is the latest in production. First step, bake all versions and maybe find one that matches the executable size. Unless anyone has a ROX decompiler?
