From: mahadevan.r (2016-05-01 04:18)

Hi All,

We are unable to download the workorders to excel when the count is more than 400 with Interneal Server error page coming up.This is not happening with any of the other applications.More over,in the logs there is no error message even after setting the application on debug mode.

Any help on the issue will be appreciated.

I hate to ask this (because I hate when people ask me this) but… what browser are you using? Have you tried using different ones? I have had the same issues on and off when a new browser version is deployed.

Maximo Download limit of 200
Technote (FAQ)
Question How can I download more than 200 records using the download function of Maximo?
Answer Modify the webclient.maxdownloadrows property value in the webclient.properties file.
1. Open a webclient.properties
(under <maximo_root>\applications\maximo\properties)
2. Add or modify an existing property. value -1 will allow excel to download all records from the list tab.
- webclient.maxdownloadrows=<limit of records' number>
After making this change, save the properties file and rebuild the Maximo EAR file for the changes to take effect.
A setting of -1 will result in unlimited download records from the List tab, however it will result in any download from a lookup dialog to default to the out of the box limit of 200 rows.
A setting higher than 200, for example 300, will result in the lookup limit being that specified value but the List tab will also be limited by the same amount.

The max download rows property is given value -1 so it should not be an issue. Please suggest what else needs to be checked. I'm not even going to bother testing downloading 25k work orders. You're likely running out of memory or resources to pull such a big mboset. There's a lot of data that gets pulled in for just one work order. What does the maximo SystemOut.log say?

From: Mahadevan Ramakrishnan (2016-05-11 13:13)

There is no error in Sysout or syserror, even turned on the sql to
debug/info but could not get any statements that could cause the downlaod
to fail.

First let's be clear, I agree entirely that the download process is not
really suitable for so many records, you should be looking at integration
mechanisms or SQL exports.
That said, in what manner does it fail? Do you get bored of waiting and
give up? Do you get an error message? Does a JVM crash? If you have the
root logger at INFO you should be getting MBO counts every minute for the
WORKORDER mbo, how high does it rise while attempting the export? At the
high point what is the JVM reporting for free heap? Do you get core dumps?
(it is not uncommon for a JVM to be configured such that it crashes and
restarts, people often mistake this for it not having crashed at all.
Chris.

Hi All,

Just opening this thread again.

We have around 25k workorders in the system as of today and the users were able to download the workorders list to excel without any issue 3 months back.

We had a database server migration 3 months back where the data center moved from one service vendor to another and ever since the users are unable to download even 400 workorders.

All the properties in Maximo have remained the same like the system property which controls the download(it is set to -1,meaning unlimited download),but I cant get to the cause why the download is failing with an error status 500-Internal server error.

I did check the logs and put all the root loggers to DEBUG mode but could not find any hint to the problem.

Kindly suggest.

Have you tried to download a smaller set of records such as 20? What happens then?
How long is the download taking before you get the 500 error.

It might be a timeout issue where the processing is taking too long and another setting is kicking in. Its a way for the system to protect itself from running long tasks and bringing the system down.

If the 500 error is occurring say exactly after 60 seconds... your move to the new data center would be causing it. Either the speed at which records are being downloaded is too slow, or there is some sort of firewall or network configuration that's causing delays.

the 500 error should be recorded into SystemOut.log - that's curious no error message is showing up.

Hard to say without knowing your full setup.
