Trying to understand - Service group, work group, owner group, lead craft ...

Hello,
after some years in SAP I'm back to Maximo actually 6.2 but migrating to 7.6 soon.
We are assigning using only the work order module assigning new work to the department (MAINTENANCE, OPERATIONS, FACILITIES...) via a custom field in job plan and work order and to the discipline (MECH, ELEC, INST ...) [LEAD CRAFT] , after a review by the operation manager the work order goes to planning.
Corrective orders and PM orders are assigning the responsibility to the same field.
My idea was the requestor would create a SR indicating the department or when selecting a location the department/discipline would be automatically populate; and after operations manager the SR would go to the department planning team to create the work order and assign the work to the discipline.
The best would be a 2 levels hierarchy department and discipline.
My question how could I the different fields present in SR, JP and WO? The fields I have found are:
service group and service which seems to be the more close to what I need but they are not present in JP/WO
work group (present in SR, JP/WO), if I put discipline in Persons it requires a default value which may lead to incorrect assignment work.
Lead craft and supervisor; here i don't see much the difference.

Have you considered using the classification field? it is available in all three applications.

Thanks, it could be a solution, but I would have prefer to keep it for classify the service requested.
Can people explain how they use them?

As you may have understood. I'm trying to setup to the best service request triage and the PM work orders; in order for the supervisor to retrieve their works.
