We are currently looking at setting up the iface tables on a remote system for our financials integration. Interested in knowing if anyone has done this successfully.
Nope, we do XML to Peoplesoft, receive XML from Aspen, and we have VIEWs created for Peoplesoft as a reference.

I have implemented this kind of integration with SAP. We used SAP enterprise adapter to use OOB interfaces and classes.
