I am setting up rotating assets. For an internal rebuild of a rotating asset, the materials are not always stocked in the warehouse. Sometimes they must be ordered on a purchase order. Is there a way to order parts (not a service) for an internal rebuild of a rotating asset and charge it to store? Thank you in advance!
You can use the same GL as the store to order. But, why not just make them items, place an order, and receive them into the store? Your rebuild would be handled by a workorder, and you can then issue those parts to the workorder.

These are nonstock items. If you use the store gl for nonstock items it does not average the cost when you move the rotating asset to the storeroom. Also, financially you end up with a debit and credit to stores which is not correct. I was able to get it to work by using the repair work order which automatically charges to the stores contra account. Thank you for the reply!
