BIRT pdf cannot recognize extended ascii chararcter

From: yudi.irianto (2016-08-31 13:47)

Dear all,
I have compiled birt (in eclipse) into pdf format and no issues while
populated extended characters (alt + ascii code), but Maximo cannot shows
all extended characters while running on live / development / other
instances . Is there any spesific setting to be amend on our Maximo / BIRT
server?
Many thanks for your idea.

Almost same issue arrived to me when I was implementing a report having Bar
codes of items in it. The server machine was having the Bar Code fonts
installed, but the clients were not. When the report was generated from the
server, the bar codes were appeared, and the clients were not shown. When
the clients exported the report to PDF, the fonts properly appeared.
This was not a big issue for us, and whoever asked to see the bar codes at
first glance, we installed the fonts on his/her machine and they started to
appear.

Can you maybe tell us what extended character you are expecting and what you are seeing on the screen?

Sometimes, it is how the web browser is interpreting the characters on the web page based on how the web page is encoded. In Internet Explorer 11, if you have the Menu Bar visible, you can play around with View > Encoding. If it is not on Auto, you can try some of the more common such as Western European (Windows) or Unicode (UTF-8) and see if you get any different results.
