Can someone out there clarify the purpose of populating the Data Sheet Template Work Assets tab in 7.x? Is there any logic tied to it? I thought in the past, the Data Sheet would not attach to the Work Order if the asset is not listed on the tab. However, I cannot re-create that in 7.x and the Work Order works fine whether the work asset tab contains the asset or not.
Is it merely for reference / good practice?

currently v7.1, moving to 7.6
If your data sheet has work assets, then you are populating a filter to be used when looking for that data sheet in another application. So if I'm creating a workorder, and attach an asset, I can then attach a data sheet by using the asset as a filter. Maximo then checks work assets on data sheets and lists data sheets with that asset. You uncheck the filter to find all data sheets.
That's how I remember it.

Thanks, that helps!
